Lycabettus Hill

Lycabettus Hill is a steep, tree-lined rise in central Athens that rewards a short walk or a quick funicular ride with broad city panoramas. The summit has a small chapel, a café/bar and several viewing terraces that look over the Acropolis, the city and the sea.

Highlights

  • Expect a paved uphill path if you choose to walk, and a short enclosed funicular ride if you prefer not to climb.
  • The top is compact: terraces, a café and a small church take up much of the space.
  • Views stretch across Athens to the port on clear days.
  • Paths can be busy at peak times, and some sections feel steep but are manageable for most visitors.
