Theatre of Dionysus Eleuthereus
A fifth-century open-air theatre on the south slope of the Acropolis. It served as the performance space for the plays of Aeschylus, Sophocles and Euripides. Today the ruins and seating terraces give a clear sense of classical stagecraft and civic life.
